Description of Work
The Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy scholar program is a unique opportunity to work with a cohort-based program for financially need conscious undergraduate engineering students with a commitment to advancing women in the field of engineering. The Program Coordinator will serve as an integral part of our team and will be involved in aspects of the Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy including, but not limited to, coaching, workshop and event planning, and teaching. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering offers academic programs in Lincoln and Omaha, and this position will serve as a point of contact for Academy students who are enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Specifically, the Program Coordinator will meet individually with students to provide for success coaching related to academic and college success on a consistent basis and will help implement early intervention plans when needed. They will also create, host, and facilitate personal and professional development workshops and engage with the Living Learning Community for the Peter Kiewit Foundation Engineering Academy with an emphasis on community building. They will teach cohort specific sections of either the Engineering 10 (freshman success) or Engineering 20 (career development) seminar classes each fall and help oversee the peer mentor program. The Scholar Programs Coordinator will also support general scholar programs events, such as serve on the scholar selection committee or lead sessions during the Campus Readiness Retreat. This position may also help manage student workers, in addition to other duties.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, education, counseling, psychology, student affairs, or related field plus two (2) years of related experience working with students in a 1:1 setting. (Experience from an assistantship and student job will be considered). Demonstrated experience presenting to diverse groups required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, business, education, counseling, psychology, student affairs, or related field. Experience teaching at the University level helpful. Counseling skills and knowledge of theory/application helpful.
