Coordinates and/or administers the operational activities associated with the eSports program, this position will have a shared role between the intramural/recreational eSports club and the eSports Varsity-Competitive departments. Provides program leadership of competitive eSports program, social and recreational aspects of any eSports or social gaming facilities for Florida International University (FIU). The position will contribute to a vision of how eSports and competitive activities will support the university's mission, educational philosophy and enhance the development of students. The position will be flexible and comfortable with change in an evolving environment with responsibility for the short- and long-term development of the newly created Office of eSports and Competitive Activities. This position will report to the Senior Director for Student Life and Development.

  • Develops and coordinates a comprehensive calendar of campus and regional programs and engagements, including tournaments, symposia, summer youth camps, pop-up events, identity-based programming (e.g., women¿s tournaments, LGBTQ nights, cultural programs), etc.
  • Serves as the representative to competitive eSports leagues/federations (rules committees, conference guidance) and as the program lead in building relationships with academia, alumni, and sponsors.
  • Provides leadership for the development of digital, social media, and streaming strategy, including sponsorship of campus events/or virtual events.
  • Leads efforts to recruit eSports players by working directly with the Office of Admissions and Orientation and support staff to identify, develop, and recruit new and diverse students.
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, and retention of students and volunteers involved in eSports programs offered at the university.
  • Coordinates weekly training of varsity players to develop their personal and professional plans and ensure varsity players are compliant of state and university policies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the arena and organizing programs and events at the arena while students are training or gaming.
  • Supervises program support staff, graduate students, and/or team players, as well as creates all work schedules.
  • Serves as a liaison to the eSports registered student organizations and helps develop and enforce bylaws, rules, and guidelines.
  • Serves as university representative in the development of a national collegiate eSports conference and similar international leagues.
  • Coordinates team travel to local, regional, and national competitions and accompanies varsity student athletes traveling for league and tournament matches.
  • Supports the work and mission of the Division of Student Life through committees, task forces, and special assignments.
  • Serves as the day off administrator for all eSports related events

 

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of office or related experience.

$40,000-$43,000

Begin time: 8:30 AM
End time: 5:00 PM
