Job Description

Coordinates the activities and functions of the Empathy and Cultural Responsiveness Training Initiative of the Center for Child Well-Being at the School of Social Work at Arizona State University. This training sessions will be delivered to AZ Department of Child Safety (DCS) employees across the state of Arizona. The person in the Program Coordinator position will be expected to coordinate the day-to-day and logistical issues related to implementing a hybrid training consisting of both computer-based and in-person trainings to DCS employees in all parts of the state of Arizona.

Salary Range

$42,017 - $51,500; DOE


Essential Duties

  • May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of subordinates.
  • Develops and recommends new or revised program goals and objectives.
  • Develops and schedules program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.
  • Monitors and approves program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
  • Confers with and advises staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation; refers to appropriate department person when unable to respond.
  • Coordinates activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
  • Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.
  • Reviews applications or other program documents independently or in conjunction with supervisor to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to program.
  • Recruits program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
  • Develops, compiles, and writes communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
  • Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.

Specific Job Duties Include but are not Limited to: 

  • Recruit and on-board diverse, community-based, contracted trainers across the state.
  • Manage the tracking of trainers’ orientation including their successful completion of the training and successful delivery of each in-person training session.
  • Collaborate with DCS personnel regarding the scheduling of trainings, including reserving training rooms and ensuring all necessary technology will be available.
  • Review training materials and offer feedback on readability, format, flow, and organization.
  • Collect contact information for in-office point people for each training location and serve as a central point of contact for trainers.
  • Manage in-person training sign-up, ensuring caps on participant numbers are maintained.
  • Respond to questions from trainees and link them to the appropriate people for answers.
  • Disseminate evaluation surveys and reminders to complete the evaluation surveys.
  • Regularly collect Trainee evaluation survey responses from Qualtrics and provide summaries or critical updates to the trainers and training developers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with training programs. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience of working with children and families.
