Program Associate, Alumni Belonging

Job Description:

The Program Associate works closely with the Senior Director of  Alumni Belonging Programs,  providing high-level administrative support for programmatic initiatives. The Associate will also work with Brown University staff and alumni volunteer leaders to plan events and assist in the design, creation, and distribution of invitations and promotional messages. 

The Associate will work with Alumni Belonging staff on developing annual reports detailing program metrics. The associate will also help administer constituent surveys and compile data to help the program monitor progress against program goals and opportunities for improvement and innovation.

This position will provide operational and administrative support for the Alumni Belonging team, including scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, organizing team files and documents, and budget support. 

The Associate will collaborate with colleagues across the department and the University, including colleagues in the Development, advancement, and academic departments. The Associate will play a meaningful role in bringing our Alumni Leadership strategy to fruition and will provide invaluable insight and counsel on our leadership communities as we grow the lifelong connection our alumni have to Brown and to each other.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field such as alumni relations, fundraising, higher education, nonprofits, sales, customer service,  volunteer management, community building, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging,.

  • Experience with event planning and volunteer management

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed

  • Excellent attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and project and time management skills.

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently multitask and prioritize workload.

  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work a non-traditional schedule as needed (i.e. weekend or evening events, etc.).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills, particularly an ability to deal diplomatically with a variety of often demanding and diverse University constituencies and the general public relations of the University

  • Proven track record of working with diverse individuals or communities

  • Proficient with audio/visual and presentation platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams or WebEx, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs and publishing/Photoshop desirable. Ability to adapt to new software packages

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in alumni relations, higher education, or non-profit environment

  • Preference for academic exposure to relevant disciplines
