Summary of Duties:

The Program Assistant serves as a primary contact for students, staff, and community members seeking services from Compliance and Civil Rights (CCR), or through the Compliance and Risk Management department, as needed. The Program Assistant provides information on program policies, activities, and grievance procedures, and initiates proactive outreach to potential complainants. Under general supervision, the Program Assistant supports the work of CCR by tracking and recording cases, composing materials explaining CCR processes and policies, conferring with other departments for support services, referring matters internally or externally as needed, and related duties. The Program Assistant provides similar support for CRM, as needed.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Customer service experience 

  • Strong computer skills and competency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook 

  •  Ability to handle confidential documents and information 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in supporting participants involved in discrimination and harassment grievances 

  • Experience interpreting policies and procedures and conveying information to the general public 

  • Experience using computer software to manage multiple electronic calendars and schedule appointments/meetings 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral skills 

  • Two (2) years of experience serving as a primary point-of-contact in an office environment 

  • Experience working in higher education 

  • Familiarity with Washington State University 

  • Experience handling confidential documents & information 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

Monthly Salary: Range #35 | $2,890.00-$3,734.00 (Step A through L) Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
