At Research and Development in the College of Education & Human Development, we assist in the development and submission of research proposals, coordinate award documentation and manage post-award financial activities. What we want

The Program Aide – Classroom Assistant will work with the Aggie ACHIEVE Summer Experience from June 6-17, 2022. Aggie ACHIEVE is a comprehensive training program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to attend TAMU for up to four years. Aggie ACHIEVE students live in White Creek Apartments, attend TAMU classes, join clubs and organizations, and are fully integrated into student life at Texas A&M University. If you have a passion for helping others get to know the A&M campus and prepare for life as an Aggie, apply to be a residential mentor for the Aggie ACHIEVE Summer Experience. The program aide has an essential role in the Aggie ACHIEVE Summer Experience.

Specifically, the Program Aide—Classroom Assistant’s responsibilities will include: (a) provide support in Aggie ACHIEVE seminars to assist students in accessing/completing activities while working closely with the Academic Graduate Assistant and program staff. (b) support Aggie ACHIEVE students with adjusting to college and independent living; (c) attend meetings with Aggie ACHIEVE staff; and (d) assist with one weekend event during the Summer Experience. What you need to know

Salary: $15/hr.

Position Details: The duration of this position is June 6-17, 2022.  Classes are held Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm. Upon hire, a training session (approximately 2 hours) will be arranged in late May.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision/Management - Assist college-age adult students (ages 18-27) with intellectual and developmental disabilities with the Aggie ACHIEVE Summer Experience daily classroom activities. Assist students in navigating around campus for classes and meals. Follows TAMU Emergency Protocol and Procedures.

  • Data Collection - Under the direction of Program Staff, monitor students during classroom activities. Encourage and monitor the progress of students throughout the Summer Experience. Provide feedback that facilitates growth. Perform other duties as assigned.
