About the Department
 

The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) is an integral component of the Biological Sciences Division (BSD). The BSD is the largest of four Divisions of the University and includes the Pritzker School of Medicine. UCCCC administers four established scientific programs, and the NCI-sponsored Cancer Center Support Grant provides funding for ten Shared Resources. The Comprehensive Cancer Center is comprised of over 150 faculty members from twenty departments with members currently being awarded over $47 million in total direct costs in peer-reviewed cancer research grants, and $28 million in non-peer reviewed grants and contracts. The activities of the Center are broad and varied, including research, training and education, communications, fundraising, marketing, clinical trials management and community outreach.


Job Summary
 

This position will support research project development and administration for the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. This will include providing research project management support for the development and execution of multi-investigator grants and other UCCCC scientific projects.
This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by extramural funds (e.g., grant, gift, endowment) which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor. This employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these extramural funds and satisfactory job performance. If this position is eliminated due to the discontinuation of extramural funding a minimum of one pay period’s written notice will be given (If exempt: 30 days, If non-exempt: 2 weeks), or pay in-lieu of notice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research projects to include but not limited to multi-investigator grant applications and working groups and other larger Comprehensive Cancer Center-driven research project initiatives.
  • Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • PhD degree or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience in a tumor immunology, immunotherapy, cellular therapy and/or related cancer translational research fields.
  • Experience in NIH/NCI grant writing and submission

Preferred Competencies

  • Outstanding communication skills, including excellent scientific, grant writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate team science.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
