The College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina (USC) in Columbia is seeking qualified applicants for Tenured and Tenure-Track faculty positions at all levels.
Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank must possess a PhD degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, or a closely related field by the start date of employment, a demonstrated record of research accomplishments, and an outstanding capacity for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants for the ranks of Associate Professor and Full Professor must also have years of relevant academic experience commensurate with academic policy, plus a strong, sustained record of excellence in teaching and research, including competitive funding and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop internationally recognized, externally funded research programs in cutting edge areas of industrial engineering. We seek outstanding candidates with a background in operational research applied to engineering fields such as transportation engineering, healthcare, supply chain management, manufacturing, energy, environmental, systems design, or others. The candidate must show the ability to effectively teach a variety of courses for undergraduate students in industrial engineering, i.e., Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Human Factors/Ergonomics. Successful candidates will have a joint appointment with tenure home based on expertise and research focus. A successful track record of working with industry and startups or experience with ABET accreditation in industrial engineering area plus.
The successful candidates must have the ability to (1) teach and develop Industrial/General Engineering curriculum (including lecture, laboratory, or design courses) at the undergraduate level, (2) develop and sustain an independent, nationally recognized research program in Industrial Engineering, (3) collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers across colleges and institutions, and (4) be engaged in professional activities.
USC is designated as a “high research and high service activity” university by the Carnegie Foundation. The teaching load is very attractive and appropriate for developing a robust research program. The College is highly engaged in transdisciplinary research and is actively involved with regional industry, state agencies, and healthcare communities.
