The Duke University School of Medicine seeks applications for a renowned mid-career neuroscientist at the Professor level who seeks to become a major leader in a vital and collaborative neuroscience community. As part of the Duke Science and Technology initiative, candidates for this position are expected to be or become exceptional and visionary thought-leaders in the neurosciences. Any area of neuroscience research will be considered, though preference will be given to applicants whose research interests would integrate with existing basic science of molecular, cellular, or systems neuroscience or clinical science related to the mechanisms of brain disorders and innovative therapeutic approaches. Applicants should demonstrate exceptional past research accomplishments, innovative future plans, an ability to acquire research funding, excellent mentoring skills and accomplishments, and an interest and ability to be an instrumental leader in an active community. Departmental affiliation would depend on research and/or clinical interests and could be any of the relevant basic science or clinical departments, including but not limited to: Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, or Neurosurgery. The successful applicant would be nominated for appointment to one of Duke University’s most prestigious endowed professorships that would provide enhanced funding.
