Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center (CC), Froedtert Health Network (FHN) and Children’s Wisconsin (CW) are launching a transformative Immuno-Oncology/Precision Oncology (IO/PO) initiative. This IO/PO initiative will expand an already robust the IO and PO programs that includes a strong group of basic and translational investigators interested in cancer genetics and epigenetics, a state-of-the-art bioinformatics and sequencing facility, tissue repository, and a robust investigator-initiated clinical trials pipeline. The MCW campus houses the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, the Versiti Blood Research Institute, and the Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine Center and is the hub for the FHN and CW. MCW, FHN and CW are the inpatient and outpatient market share leaders in cancer care in Southeastern Wisconsin with over 5,000 new cancer diagnoses annually. As part of the IO/PO Initiative, MCW CC will seek the recruitment of 2-3 faculty within the next 3 years.

Available positions

In the inaugural year of the IO/PO search, MCW CC invites applications for up to three faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with the long-term goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches to treat cancer. MCW has a large patient base in both hematologic malignancies and solid cancer types, including pancreatic, prostate, breast and ovarian cancers; as such, investigators with interest/expertise in any of these cancer types are particularly encouraged to apply. Endowed chairs in IO/PO are available for qualified senior candidates with exceptional creativity and track record. Expertise and research areas of interest include:

1)      Pathologists with a laboratory-based research focus

2)      Clinical trialists with expertise and interest in epigenetic based therapeutic approaches

3)      Basic science investigators studying nuclear architecture, gene expression, epigenetics, computational biology and bioinformatics

4)      Medicinal chemists with a history of multi-disciplinary collaboration

5)      Medical oncologists with a laboratory-based research program

6)      Basic science investigators with an interest in lymphoid or solid malignancies

Academic appointment will be within an MCW department(s) most appropriate for each candidate and can be tailored to provide maximum synergy, along with membership in the MCW CC.
