Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Chair and Professor will provide senior academic and strategic leadership and advance the teaching, research, and service/outreach missions of the Department of Family Science and the University of Maryland School of Public Health. The Chair and Professor will work closely with faculty, students and staff within the Department, School, campus and beyond to oversee and ensure excellence in:
The Chair and Professor will also leverage and expand Department collaborations and initiatives with academic, research, service, and community partners. Additionally, the Chair and Professor will serve as a member of the School’s senior leadership team and represent the Department to students, faculty, staff, administrators, community partners, the profession, and the general public. |
Minimum Qualifications: | Education: A doctoral degree in family science, maternal and child health, epidemiology, other public health disciplines, couple and family therapy, social work, demography, psychology, sociology, or human development, as well as substantive and documented expertise in funded research and scholarship in an area(s) relevant to the Department’s mission. Experience: Previous leadership and administrative experience are required; academic leadership experience is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates must be eligible for appointment as a tenured, Full Professor. Anticipated appointment begins July 1, 2023. |
Preferences: | Preferences: A research portfolio experience including leadership on externally-funded research projects with the expectation that the Chair and Professor will continue to help the Department build a strong research agenda. |
