The Happy Teacher Project team at the University of Oklahoma and the Early Childhood Education Institute (ECEI) at OU-Tulsa is looking for a part-time Professional Wellness Coach for Teachers in the Tulsa area.

POSITION INFORMATION: As part of a research project, conducts assessments, implements coaching curriculum, and works directly and in person with early childhood practitioners to improve their classroom practice and self-care. Interventions are ten weeks long; Coaches will meet with participants three times per intervention. Coaches will develop relationships with participants and assist them with developing goals and reflecting on new knowledge. 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Assessment. Leads project participants through classroom practice self-assessment. Shares assessment results with project and with participants. Becomes reliable on assessment tools as required.

  • Coaching. Meets with project participants (in person, via Zoom) to create and implement a coaching/mentoring plan. Follows coaching curriculum to improve classroom practice based on trauma-informed strategies.  
  • Record Keeping. Keeps record of information obtained during research, which may include a database of information, hard files, etc. May enter data as needed. Follows standard protocols for data entry. Submits bi-weekly time and monthly mileage reports as needed. 
  • Collaboration. Collaborates with other wellness coaches, project staff, and principal investigators. Participates in project meetings.
  • As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

This position has limited hours, averaging 10 to 15 hours per month (after onboarding and required training is completed). This part-time position would be ideal for those with scheduling flexibility. The hourly rate for this position is $30 to $36 per hour.

REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field, AND:

  • Two years of experience as an assistant teacher, teacher or lead/master teacher in an early childhood programs or programs that support early childhood professionals required. 

Preferences:

  • Masters degree in above areas. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must have excellent communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in technology and non-clinical research skills; proficiency using MS Office products, including Outlook and Excel; proficiency using remote technology (Zoom, MS Teams).
  • Familiar with wearable devices and their operation (Fitbit).
  • Scheduling flexibility required.
  • Must have personal transportation and be able to travel locally and statewide as needed.
