Professional Tutor

Centenary University is currently seeking a part-time Professional Tutor that can assist with science, math, and/or business courses. Science courses include Biology and Chemistry among others. Business courses include Accounting (various levels), Business Statistics, and Quantitative Analysis. The Professional Tutor will work remotely, in-person, or a blend of both. The tutors will be responsible for tutoring students one-on-one or in groups for the purpose of reviewing and studying material for the course. Centenary University’s tutorial program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association at the highest level.     

The University reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND TASKS: 

Tutoring Responsibilities

• Facilitate one-on-one and/or group tutoring sessions to meet the needs of students
• Provide assistance with subject-specific strategies
• Communicate effectively with students
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to tutoring policies and procedures
• Remote and in-person hours available

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES 

• Provide academic support to foster independent learning
• Offer tutoring assistance to campus students

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
• Communication skills
• Prior tutoring experience desirable

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

• Required: Bachelor’s degree
