Description: The Department of Sociology at Princeton University seeks applicants for a professional specialist as project director in the Debt Collection Lab. The Project Director will work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to conduct original research and supervise a research team examining the prevalence, causes, and consequences of debt collection and debt collection lawsuits. The Project Director will have the following responsibilities: maintenance of the existing data structure; coordinating activities of research staff and ensuring research protocol and data security protocol are implemented correctly; responding to data requests; and monitoring progress on Lab activities, including data acquisition, analysis, and publication. Administrative staff will work with the Project Director to help carry out these responsibilities. The Project Director will share responsibility for public outputs from the Lab's research, including coordinating publication schedules, website updates, social media communications, laying out working papers and reports, and fielding research inquiries from outside researchers and policymakers. This position will report to the PI and coordinate the workflow of research specialists, graduate students, and research assistants working on debt collection data. The Project Director will have opportunities to conduct original research. Strongly preferred experience includes working with large, complex datasets using statistical programming languages, including Stata and/or R. Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively to meet internal and external deadlines. Ability to work with PI and researchers from varying disciplinary backgrounds. Experience conducting original quantitative research. Working knowledge of Institutional Review Board policies and procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication, including communicating complex data and methodological concepts to both academic and non-technical audiences. An advanced or professional degree in quantitative social science, or related field, is required.
