The Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking a self motivated, full-time employee at the level of research assistant to work with faculty investigators on a project studying interactions between cancer (primarily melanoma) and the immune system. The major responsibility of this position will be to process blood specimens from patients on a clinical trial. Other in vitro projects are related to investigating how tumors induce immune suppression.

   

Duties and responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

 

  • Basic cell culture techniques.
  • Tissue storage and banking.
  • Cellular and molecular analysis.
  • Cell isolation and FACS analysis.
  • Development of research protocols and techniques.
  • Working with other laboratory staff and collaborators as needed.
  • Work with human clinical research subjects and/or specimens.
  • Interactions with regulatory personnel and processes.

         

Salary and Benefits:

The salay range established for this position is $35,600-40,500 annually.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

 

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology-related fields with two years of previous basic laboratory experience including work with cells and tissues.

 Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Master's Degree
  • Working knowledge of immunology.
  • Meticulous ability to follow established clinical protocols
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety standards/techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and software as applied to laboratory research.
  • Ability to function independently in the laboratory
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques including DNA, RNA, and protein isolation.
