Nature of Work
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position within the Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center. This position will support the SEARCH Brain Imaging pilot study.
 
The SEARCH Brain Imaging pilot study is a foundation-funded study sponsored by the American College of Radiology. The goal of the study is to recruit young adults with youth-onset diabetes (type 1 and type 2) who participated in the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth cohort study in 2015-2019 to return for a follow up visit, to determine the impact of youth-onset diabetes on brain structure, function, and molecular markers of pathological aging.

Examples of Work Performed
This is a position requiring an individual with an interest in medical research in diabetes and brain health, as well as data collection, ability to be self-directed, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Collect physical measurements including weight, height, blood pressure, waist circumference, and other measures such as body composition testing with Bod Pod equipment.

  • Administer health-related questionnaires.

  • Recruitment, scheduling visits and participation in study retention efforts and events.

  • Coordination of study data and specimen collection procedures.

  • Documentation and reporting of serious adverse events.

  • Documentation of visit procedures in the source document.

  • Data entry of visit forms in RedCap Data Repository and resolution of data edits.

  • Participation in study meetings and trainings as required.

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This is a position requiring an individual with an interest in medical research, as well as data collection, ability to be self-directed, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary has been established at $50,000 for a 1.0FTE (40 hours/week) position.
 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

 
 
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 2 years’ experience in research or clinical setting working with human subjects/patients.

  • Experience following a research or clinical protocol.

Conditions of Employment:
The incumbent will work Monday through Friday to collect survey data and brain imaging at in-person visits. This person will assist with the recruitment and retention of study participants.
 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.

  • Knowledge of brain health risks and/or chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

  • Proficiency in the RedCap database application.

  • Statistical programming experience using SAS, Matlab, SPSS, STATA, or related program.

  • In-person and telephone interviewing experience.
