Nature of Work

A full-time Professional Research Assistant position is available in the Department of Pathology, University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. The ideal candidate will be reliable, personable, highly motivated, and have demonstrated the ability to work as part of a group under the direction of investigators.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, productive research group.

Molecular, cell and cancer biology.

  • Potential to assist graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and MD fellows.

Duties

 

  • Patient-derived xenograft propagation, surgical implantation, tumor measurement, and drug administration.
  • Animal handling, rodent colony maintenance, breeding, genotyping, and occasional weekend hours may be required
  • Molecular biology techniques, PCR
  • Western blotting, ELISA
  • Cell culture
  • Tissue sectioning, H+E staining and immunohistochemistry
  • Organ dissection and tissue collection
  • General lab maintenance; ordering, cleaning, protocol preparation, surgical supply preparation, organization of data.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $50,000 to $60,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA in biology or related field
  • Relevant research laboratory experience – Minimum 5 years
  • Experience with animal husbandry

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic science background
  • An understanding of molecular biology, biochemistry and related methods
  • Laboratory animal handling
  • Primary cell culture

Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic science research background
  • Basic computer and mathematics skills
    • Proficient user of Microsoft office and PRISM
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or under direction of multiple investigators
  • Animal handling and breeding.
