Nature of Work

The Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH), Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado | Anschutz Medical Campus, is seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant. CAIANH and the ColoradoSPH strive to promote diversity and equity and to be a model of inclusive excellence. The overall mission of CAIANH is to advance the health of AI/AN communities by means of research, training, technical assistance, and information dissemination. More information about CAIANH may be found at https://coloradosph.cuanschutz.edu/research-and-practice/centers-programs/caianh .

The person in this position will work on the Thiwáhe Gluwáš’akapi (TG) effectiveness trial of an early substance use prevention program for American Indian youth (ages 10-13) on a South Dakota reservation. The person in this position will assist with remote coordination of field research activities in South Dakota (with occasional travel to the reservation) and with research support activities in Colorado. This position will be a 1.0 FTE position.

This is a PRA position that will work alongside faculty and project team members to complete tasks related to the project in the following areas:

This position will:

  • Monitor project tasks and timeline
  • Coordinate with partner staff on the reservation to implement the TG program and data collection
  • Assist in training partner staff in data collection procedures
  • Travel to South Dakota to assist with data collection activities
  • Manage participant compensation and track payments
  • Manage preparation of program materials and supplies
  • Purchase program supplies and track shipments
  • Manage payment of project consultants
  • Maintain schedule of meetings for the project team
  • Track and manage data collection
  • Monitor study-related email
  • Assist with data entry
  • Assist with preparation of reports to funder and study oversight agencies

    Hiring Range

    The hiring range for this position has been established at $38,000 - $41,000.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Qualifications

     

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree. Education and relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
    • 6 months minimum of experience in a community health-related position (paid or volunteer).

    Applicants must meet minimum requirements at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in quantitative data collection, management, and analysis.
    • Experience working with AIAN communities or populations, especially in research.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of health equity, health disparities, or social justice issues.
  • Knowledge of quantitative data collection, management, and basic analysis.
  • Ability to input data with accuracy and track detailed information in electronic systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team based-setting, and also function effectively on an independent basis.
  • A basic knowledge of substance use behavior among youth and prevention approaches.
