The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a full time opening for a Professional Research Assistant in the Division of Reproductive Sciences.  This position will be shared between two labs. The McManaman/Monks lab investigates the biology of mammary gland development and lactation and the Santoro Lab investigates the mechanisms underlying the impact of obesity on reproductive endocrinology in women.  We respectively seek individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and working environment.  We value the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds

Nature of Work

The primary duties of this full time Professional Research Assistant position will be to process samples from human subjects and perform immunology assays.  In addition, the PRA may perform lab managerial tasks, ordering and tracking of supplies, handling of live mice, review of quality control, and assay development/troubleshooting and other research techniques. Data entry and analysis using Windows-based systems will be required.

The Professional Research Assistant will work under the PI’s Dr. Jenifer Monks and Katherine Kuhn.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Preparation of lab reagents.
  • Processing of patient samples for analysis
  • Conduct and analysis of immunoassays
  • Use of a database to track clinical samples
  • Assistance with laboratory upkeep & maintenance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of molecular biology, physiology and biochemistry
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques
  • Ability to conduct precision tasks with high reproducibility
  • Meticulous record keeping, time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position has been established at $35,600 to $40,500.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
