Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.


Unit Position Summary

The Mias Lab at the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering at Michigan State University is seeking a research assistant on a temporary basis. The lab focuses on the analysis and development of multiomics data for applications to precision medicine, including space health, as well as investigating the use of non-invasive samples to identify time-resolved molecular signatures of physiological changes..

The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Primarily analyze transcriptomics and other omics datasets, including physiological data. using data-intensive platforms (as well as coding including Python and R, unix and retrieving information from online databases).
- Assist in lab maintenance (e.g. Cryogenic cell storage maintenance).
- Assist in lab projects (e.g. RNA extraction from samples, extracellular vesicle extraction).


Desired Qualifications

Previous exposure to use of computational online platforms (including Galaxy) for the analysis of data. Bachelors degree in genetics or related biological field. Knowledge of and applications of genomics/transcriptomics. Familiarity with space health research.
