Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Hiring part-time lab manager for psychology research lab that studies the social, cultural, and environmental determinants of body image and eating concerns. Lab manager will create and maintain lab documents, oversee undergraduate research assistants, manage day-to-day activities of the lab, and assist with manuscript and grant preparation.


Unit Position Summary

The ARISE (Advancing Representation and Inclusion in the Study of Eating) Lab in the Psychology Department at Michigan State University is hiring a part-time lab manager. The ARISE lab focuses on the social, cultural, and environmental determinants of eating and body image-related concerns, with particular focus on food insecurity/disadvantage, weight bias, intuitive eating, and improving the accessibility and cultural congruence of eating disorder interventions. The lab manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining a lab manual and study protocols, will train and supervise undergraduate research assistants, establish connections with local and national partners, and assist with participant recruitment, data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analyses, and manuscript and grant preparation. Current studies involve investigating the social determinants of intuitive eating, exploring the mechanisms underlying the mechanisms contributing to food insecurity among youth affected by parental incarceration, developing single-session online interventions for eating disorders, and piloting weight-inclusive primary care.


Desired Qualifications

Experience with R, SPSS, Qualtrics, Microsoft Word/Excel, participant recruitment, and data cleaning are highly preferred. Experience with qualitative data analysis and MAXQDA or Atlas.Ti is desirable
