Job Description:


THIS IS A TEN (10) MONTH APPOINTMENT THAT RUNS FROM AUGUST 1- MAY 31 OF EACH YEAR. The School of Theater and the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University is seeking applications for a Production Manager. This position provides services for the School of Theater and Tantrum Theater Productions.
Primary Accountabilities include:
1. To provide Production Management services for School of Theater and Tantrum Theater Productions.
2. Conduct day-to-day operation of season productions.
3. Liaise with and manage University Marketing Department.
4. Oversee safety of facilities and organization of digital filing system.
Day-to-day duties may include:
1. Conduct day-to-day operation of season productions.
a. Facilitate communication, problem-solving, and coordination across multiple departments and shops in the School of Theater (scenic, props, costumes, lighting, sound, stage management, performance).
b. Coordinate communication between School of Theater (SOT) and Tantrum Theater.
c. Teach SOT class for credit in production management, stage management, or other area of expertise.
d. Work with SOT administrative staff to oversee production purchasing, which can amount to hundreds of purchases for each production.
e. Oversee and update the production calendars and share them with all 200+ faculty, staff, and students.
f. Serve as point-person to obtain rights for all SOT productions. This requires communication with rights holders and coordination with university procurement entities.
g. Coordinate mainstage student auditions with performance faculty and stage management each semester.
h. Liaise with Tantrum Theater guest artists to assist them in navigating the theater spaces, policies, and procedures.
2. Serve as point person for production meetings and technical rehearsals.
a. Prepare for and lead all production meetings for School of Theater and Tantrum productions.
b. Coordinate all production work and hold all shops (costume, props, scenery, lighting and sound) accountable for getting work done on time.
c. Attend all technical rehearsals and tech notes (approximately 46 hours per production during evenings and weekends).
d. Schedule rehearsal rooms and theaters for rehearsals and performances.
e. Mentor student production managers on all shows.
3. Liaise with and manage University Marketing Department.
Coordinate all season information in service of print advertising, photography, website updates, and show program creation.
4. Oversee safety of facilities and organization of digital filing system.
a. Oversee safety for all spaces and productions, which requires serving as liaison to the university facilities and safety departments who oversee our theater spaces.
b. Manage digital filing system for production teams related to production work.
c. Archive production information at conclusion of season.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Theater or related field.
At least one (1) year of related work experience with at least one (1) year of management and/or supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Candidates must have the ability to travel independently (intermittent; travel requirements vary by position).
