 HOUSING AND DINING SERVICES
 
Housing & Dining Services (HDS) is a multifaceted auxiliary organization responsible for management of on-campus housing facilities, residential dining, conferences, and the CSU Mountain Campus. Other areas within HDS include the RamCard, communications, sustainability, facilities, human resources, technology services, workplace inclusion, talent management, outreach, and business services. Approximately 450 full-time staff and 1,700 hourly and student staff serve the nearly 8,000 students who live on campus, as well as numerous campus and community guests. We strive to provide our residents and guests with safe living environments, quality dining, and exceptional co-curricular experiences. We accomplish this through sound fiscal and operational management strategies, and an emphasis on the development of programs and services that are designed to enhance personal growth and global engagement. WORK UNIT
As part of HDS, Residential Dining Services’ (RDS) mission is to deliver an outstanding dining experience crafted by an engaged team dedicated to social and environmental responsibility. RDS operates 5 dining centers, 2 convenience stores, a full bakeshop, and a warehouse. We employ more than 1,000 employees who serve 12,000 meals per day to the 6,000 students who live on campus.

Position Summary
This position is a fully functioning Production Assistant that assists cooks in hot food production from an established pre-printed menu and standardized recipes. Responsible for quality, quantity and appearance of foods prepared. Additionally, cross-train and perform duties in all areas of the operation.
This announcement may be used to make multiple hires for current and future Dining Servies II vacancies. The eligible list may be periodically refreshed to maintain a current pool of interested candidates.  Please note that you may be contacted for multiple vacancies, with varying shifts, throughout the use of this posting.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of dining services experience working in a commercial kitchen.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities and other personal characteristics outlined as critical to this position: 
• Work experience in a high volume meal prep (500+ meals) food production operation 
• Current certification in ServSafe and working knowledge of HACCP practices, or other food handling/health department certification – completed food safety training/classes 
• Experience working with fresh produce which includes: inventory, ordering, preparing (i.e. washing, handling, cutting etc.) 
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a work environment where teamwork can thrive 
• Experience providing exceptional front-line customer service

• Assist to produce food items from pre-printed menus using standardized recipes and methods to maintain high quality, nutritional standards, and safety & sanitation regulations.
• Assist in overseeing and training hourly employees to do the same.
• Assist to garnish foods in an attractive manner.
• Assist in recording temperature control checks (HACCP).
• Pull/prepare and produce food items for further use.
• Monitor and restock service areas by assuring food product quality and availability.
• Produce food items by hand or using power operated equipment that have the ability to bake, roast, broil, steam, fry, grill, chop, measure, and mix ingredients.
