The Opportunity and Who You'll Work With:

We are seeking a Product Manager to join WBUR's Product team of developers, product managers, and data analysts. Working with collaborators across the station, we launch, maintain, and expand editorial products including radio shows, website features, podcasts, newsletters, and our mobile app, to be distributed locally and nationally, on traditional and emerging distribution platforms.
You will have experience working with a wide variety of digital technologies, a passion for journalism and public media, and a desire to build the future for WBUR. As Product Manager, you will be responsible for implementing product strategies that will drive user engagement and growth through data-driven insights and optimization of the conversion funnel.
Your Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Executing audience growth and engagement strategies across a variety of platforms (web, newsletters, podcasts, events, mobile apps, texting) to grow audiences and optimize user engagement. Includes daily execution and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of our content distribution and messaging platforms.
  • Analyzing user data to proactively identify trends and/or anomalies in the data that indicate problems, errors, opportunities, and, ideally, successes. Using data-driven insights to test new messaging and positioning strategies for product features to optimize and improve our conversion funnel.
  • Developing a deep understanding of how users engage with our products. Identifying opportunities for product improvements and new product development.
  • Proactively scanning and identifying audience experience issues and concerns raised by users and stakeholders. Prioritizing issues and features to ensure their resolution.
  • Sharing product knowledge across WBUR's product, marketing, editorial, and membership teams to drive better decisions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to refine their requirements, resolve conflicts, and remove barriers to success for teams.

Required Skills
What Youll Need to Succeed:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience
  • 2 plus years of experience in product management and/or relevant area, with a focus on data analytics and conversion optimization

Additional Capabilities and Proficiencies:
  • An excitement about WBURs mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.
  • Experience working with one or more digital media platforms (examples could be MailChimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce CRM, Airship, OptInMonster, WordPress, Megaphone, Chartable, Sprinklr, Google Analytics).
  • Ability to be a proactive problem solver.
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to understand detailed requirements and determine a plan that will ensure requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions clearly, and effectively to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive in identifying key barriers, and by applying prior experience and expertise, establishes goals, prioritizes activities, and follows through on delivering complex projects.
  • Experience in media is a plus, not required.
