The Product Manager for Experiential Learning Products, in consultation with the Director, Learning Content Development & Delivery, defines the product strategies and works with the development team to create and deliver innovative educational technology and learning products to the Harvard Business School community and beyond. Our Product Managers engage with faculty to define the functionality and roadmaps of our Courseware products and oversee their classroom delivery, support, and interactions with other products in our portfolio.

The Product Manager contributes to the efforts to create effective and high-quality Courseware products that support the HBS teaching and learning mission. Reporting to the Director, Learning Content Development & Delivery, the Product Manager collaborates in the design, development, testing, delivery, and support of business management simulations, exercises, tutorials, and related products. They are responsible for ensuring that Research Technologies products accurately represent the faculty’s quantitative and qualitative learning goals.

The ideal candidate will be an agile self-starter who maintains focus when handling product ambiguity, a skilled communicator who is effective in navigating stakeholder relationships, and a strategic problem-solver with product management experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships with the faculty, other HBS IT teams, and other HBS partners to translate business and teaching needs into product requirements and scoping
  • Work at an expert level within a team on most phases of the product lifecycle and consider the business implications of technology applications to the current and future learning environment
  • Own and drive the long-term strategic roadmap for the experiential learning products in alignment with the strategic portfolio direction of the Director, Learning Content Development & Delivery
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements by advocating for and maintaining empathy for all stakeholders, with an enthusiasm for design thinking
  • Simplify problems and write clear, detailed requirements in easy-to-understand language for engineers and faculty
  • As the product owner, be the voice of the faculty when working with the rest of the product team; conversely, be the voice of the project team when negotiating deliverables with faculty
  • Build products to ensure scalability, incorporating different needs into the roadmap, driving uniformity wherever possible, and enabling customization where required
  • Observe user engagement during and after product delivery, gleaning actionable insights to improve the next product iteration
  • Contribute to product quality measures and budget planning
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following are preferred:

  • MBA degree or equivalent business management experience
  • At least 3 years’ product management experience and experience with agile methodologies
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think proactively, suggest solutions, and manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to shift priorities under tight deadlines and brings a “no job is too big or small” philosophy to work
  • Strong customer service orientation: approachable and tactful in dialog; adaptable and cool under pressure
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as demonstrated presentation and negotiation abilities

Certificates and Licenses

The following are preferred:

  • Agile Product Owner or relevant certification
  • Pragmatic Marketing Product Management or relevant course

Working Conditions

Additional support outside of regularly scheduled hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holiday breaks, may occasionally be required

This role is offered as a hybrid position (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA-based campus on a weekly basis. Specific schedule to be determined by your manager.
