Position Summary PUL seeks an archival professional to create & enhance metadata for collections containing personal papers of Latin American literary, cultural, & political figures in coordination with the Librarian for Latin American Studies. Primary duties include accessioning, appraising, & processing collections in all formats; managing & enhancing data for collections as required by current standards, user needs, & reparative frameworks; assisting with public services; proposing & contributing to collaborative initiatives at the team level; collaborating with departmental stakeholders on collections management & control; managing audiovisual & large-scale digitization and processing projects; & supervising student workers on archival description projects. This position further participates in committee work relating to policies, workflows, & system development & may contribute to digital humanities projects. As a member of the Special Collections Archival Description & Processing Team, this position works under the guidance of the Lead Processing Archivist & reports to the AUL for SC Technical Services. The successful candidate will be appointed to an Associate Professional Specialist or Professional Specialist depending upon qualifications & experience. Essential Qualifications Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program with archival coursework, or advanced degree in an allied discipline combined with relevant experience Fluent reading knowledge of Spanish. Hands-on experience arranging and describing archival collections with a varying size and scope. Knowledge of & experience with relevant descriptive standards for archival collections (DACS, EAD) Familiarity with current developments in processing procedures Ability to manage multiple priorities & to work effectively, both independently & collaboratively in a dynamic environment with a diverse group of staff & patrons Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, & oral communication skills Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, & a commitment to professional engagement & continuous learning Comfort with & ability to learn new technologies Commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion & serving needs of a diverse population Preferred Qualifications Experience with ArchivesSpace or another collection management system Experience with electronic records accessioning, description, & preservation Knowledge & awareness of current trends in the digitization of archival material for access & preservation Experience providing reference services in an archives or special collections Applications must be submitted via https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/33703 & include a resume, cover letter, & a list of 3 references with full contact information.
