SHIFT: 6:30AM to 3:00PM Monday through Friday – Weekend call REQUIRED


LOCATION: Missouri Digestive Health Center Lab 
 

SALARY RANGE: $21.78 to $29.37


 

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY


 

Provides nursing services GI/Endoscopy department; sets-up electrical and hemodynamic transducers and amplifiers; records and obtains hemodynamic, electrical and angiographic data; and assesses patient during the procedures and delivers therapy.  Administer intravenous sedation or analgesia during special procedures and closely monitor patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters.


 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES


 

Administer and monitor the effects of medications via the intravenous/analgesia, intracardiac, intramuscular, subcutaneous topical and oral routes during special procedures as ordered by a physician.


 

Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients.   Initiates intravenous therapy as indicated, utilizing aseptic technique with appropriate IV catheter and fluid. Ensures that medication is labeled appropriately.


 

Monitor patient’s vital signs. Administer oxygen therapy as ordered by physician.  Conduct hemodynamic monitoring as indicated by procedure and policy. Assist in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases. Attend to patient needs during cardiac studies. Defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias without direct medical supervision. Implement emergency procedures including CPR and defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias.  Obtain and record hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.


 

Develop and contribute to a plan of nursing for the patient’s care.


 

Monitor physiological conditions of cardiac patients and give timely notification to physician regarding changes in patient status.


 
 

Participate in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.


 

Prepare patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting-up pressure transducers and tubing.  General endoscopy and fluoroscopy procedures.


 

Transport and aid in transfer of patients.


 

Qualifications

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri is required;


Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills is required.

Minimum of two years of cardiovascular inpatient nursing, acute-care nursing experience, or invasive procedure nursing is preferred.
