Job Summary

Under the direction of the CES Chief Privacy Officer, this position supports privacy compliance activities associated with conducting and documenting assessments of systems, websites, processes, and vendors. This includes assessing system privacy compliance, performing risk mitigation, responding to consumer privacy requests, and assisting with team projects. This position is highly collaborative and requires strong interpersonal skills to interface with cross-departmental and cross-campus business partners in this ever-changing regulatory environment.

Privacy compliance includes a whole realm of activities associated with how a business collects, keeps, uses, and maintains personal information. The Privacy Office conducts privacy assessments of processes, data, and systems for campus departments, organizations, and vendors. These assessments help us to determine how well they comply with the laws related to keeping personal information secure and only available to the appropriate people as needed for business purposes.  Then, given that assessment, plans are made to bring departments and processes into compliance.

What you will do:

The majority of your work will be centered around identifying and mitigating privacy-related risks at BYU and other CES institutions by conducting assessments with department leaders, system owners/custodians, and vendors. You will also spend time addressing privacy-related requests or concerns from the campus community and past visitors, customers, students, and employees.

What BYU can offer you:

  • 22 vacation days and 12 sick days accrual
  • 13 calendar holidays
  • 401k matching
  • No-cost participation in a retirement savings program
  • Tuition benefits for you and your family
  • Excellent medical/dental benefits
  • Short- and long-term disability benefits
  • Paid parental and maternity leave
  • Wellness programs
  • Hybrid work model between in-office and work-from-home (where feasible and approved)
  • Free on-campus parking
  • Free UTA passes for you and your dependents
  • Discounts at the BYU Store and on the many events at BYU
  • ...And much, much more.
