Principal Surgical Technician, Westwood - Radiation Oncology

Under direction, the incumbent performs the highest level of surgical technologist duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. In addition to performing the responsibilities of the Sr Surgical Tech, the incumbent serves in a lead/subject matter expert capacity, supporting all specialty surgical areas within the Brachytherapy/Radiation Oncology department. Duties include verifying specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers, vendors, and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, ordering supplies/instruments/equipment and providing continuing education in-service to staff. The principal surgical technician also acts as the main liaison between the sterile processing departments and surgery centers in both Westwood and Santa Monica locations. The incumbent assists the Radiation Oncology Supervisors/Managers with service-related activities and identifies opportunities to streamline the operations relative to the surgical tech role. Functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource to new staff and other scrub personnel. Performs other related duties as required. Responsible for providing coverage for Westwood, Santa Monica, Santa Clarita and DTLA clinics, and other future locations as assigned. Salary Range: $43.04 – $56.78 Hourly

  JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  

* Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician training program. * BLS at time of hire with commitment to get w/in 3 months of hire date. * Five(5) years of Surgical Tech experience in an Acute/Perioperative Services/Hospital setting. * Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures. * Expert knowledge of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures. * Demonstrated interpersonal skills in customer service, problem-solving, and taking initiative.
