Job Summary

In addition to performing the duties of the Sr Surgical Technician, the Principal also functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource to new staff in the scrub role, assists with equipment repairs and maintenance and is the key liaison with the Biomedical Techs.

In addition, assists the Periopertive Manager and Director with service related activities such as checking carts, ordering supplies, and identifying opportunities to streamline the operations relative to the surgical technician role.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years experience as a Surgical Technician/Sr Surgical Technician
  • Graduate of surgical technician training program or equivalent experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in one complex surgical specialty or multiple surgical specialties
  • Demonstrated skills in precepting, time management and organization of supplies and equipment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in customer service, problem-solving, and taking initiative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Surgical Technician.
  • Experience at UCSF Medical Center as a Surgical Technician
