Job Summary

The Principle Radiology Technologist in Mammography is responsible for having a current CRT with the State of California and a current Mammography Certification with the State of California. The Principle Technologist is responsible for performing screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and all interventional and invasive procedures in the Mammography Department. Complies with all regulatory mandates for mammography.

Department Description

At UCSF Medical Center, we offer the full spectrum of techniques, using the most advanced equipment. Combined with Bone Densitometry, CT, Interventional, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and X-ray. We perform more than 500,000 procedures annually. In fact, a number of radiology advancements and applications were developed here.


Required Qualifications

  • ARRT Mammography Certification
  • CRT Radiology License
  • CRT Mammography License
  • BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification
  • Graduate of a formal radiology technology-training program in an AMA approved school. 
  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Mammography experience
  • Requires proof of mammography - specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999.
  • Requires proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24-month calendar)
  • Requires certificates of at least 15 CEU's in the last 36-month period (rolling 36 month calendar) that must include at least 6 CEU's in each mammography modality used.
  • Requires proof of MQSA approved 3D Tomosynthesis training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer recent work experience in an acute care setting.
  • Prefer breast ultrasound experience.
  • CRT Fluoroscopy License.
