Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Primary Shuttle Driver is primarily responsible for the safe operations of UNCW shuttles, to include the UNCW Trolley. The Shuttle Driver is responsible to provide superior customer service, at all times. Shuttle Drivers will have other responsibilities assigned when not driving. These could include, but are not limited to, Bike Shop duties, maintenance and repairs of signage, bike racks and markings, removing and storing personally owned bikes, safety education, computer operations and record keeping.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
•Provide exemplary customer service. 
 •Drive UNCW Shuttles and maintain the proper CDL to operate them.
 •Drive with a focus on safety.
 •Conduct an accurate and thorough pre-trip inspection.
 •Maintain accurate inspection and driving records.
 •Use of a tablet and computers in day to day operations.
 
Secondary Responsibilities:
•Work with student requests for repairs in the Hawk Wheels Bike Shop.
•Use of both power and manual tools (drills, saws, socket sets, screw drivers, pliers, etc.) with a mechanical inclination to trouble shoot simple mechanical issues and make repairs to bikes.
•Work under different environmental conditions.
•Daily computer use in applications such as Word, Excel, PDF Platforms, etc.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work
  • Requires appropriate licenses or certifications to operate assigned types of vehicles or equipment
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
  • Experience with transportation driving.
  • Experience driving passenger vehicles that require an NC CDL.
  • Experience with customer service and communications.
  • Experience using tools and making repairs (Bike Shop).
Required Certifications or licensure
NC CDL class B with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brake Restriction lifted is required.
Recruitment Range $31,200-$35,650
