Position Description
Research in Economic History and Quantitative Methods is seeking a dedicated, highly intelligent pre-doc to spend 2024/25 exploring topics that include the history of women’s employment, changes in the fertility rate, time allocation, public opinion polls, and women’s rights legislation across US history and comparatively. The pre-doc will use large data sets, as well as historical documents and will summarize literature on various topics.
The Pre-doctoral Fellow will work closely with Professor Claudia Goldin in the Department of Economics at Harvard University. The position is perfect for someone who majored in economics or a related discipline (or is currently doing so) and would like to continue to graduate school. The position is for one-year but may be renewable for another year.
*The position is fully paid, and a visa can be arranged.
Basic Qualifications
1. At least a BA (or expectation of one by June 2024) in economics or a related field.
2. Employment must be on-site in Cambridge MA (office space will be assigned). Position could be for one semester (Fall or Spring) but is ideally for the year.
3. Excellent coding skills in STATA (or R); Python is useful.
4. Ability to sort through large amounts of material to find data and other relevant information; logical and economic thinking regarding labor markets and history.
