Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary:
The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is seeking enthusiastic undergraduate mentors for the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA), an immersive program designed to introduce students to the multifaceted experience of attending college. Undergraduate mentors will play a critical role in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for PCSA students.
Requirements:
  • Assist CPS Advising Team with the development and implementation of engaging and educational activities for high school and incoming college students.
  • Contribute ideas for workshops and events focusing on personal growth and service.
  • Establish strong mentor-mentee relationships with students to provide guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Guide students in effective time management strategies, create personalized study plans, and develop organizational skills laying the foundation for their success in college.
  • Conduct scheduled study sessions to enhance academic skills and reinforce classroom learning.
  • Assist students with homework and assignments providing guidance in various subject areas.
  • Knowledgeable of campus resources to refer students when needed.
  • Lead social activities with students as part of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a Villanova undergraduate student demonstrating strong academic performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide peers effectively.
  • Passion for supporting the educational and personal development of high school and incoming college students.
  • Proactive and adaptable with excellent problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Students entering their junior or senior year of college.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field.

  • Internship credit may be available.

Describe any specific strategies or initiatives you would implement to enhance the academic and personal growth of those you mentor.
Physical Demands Summary:
Wage Rate: $15.00/hour
