Pre-Clinical Faculty, Diagnostic Sciences (Evergreen position)
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Responsible for providing didactic, pre-doctoral curriculum including Integrated Curricular Sciences. Pacific faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities to may include any of the following:
I. Teaching Curriculum

  • Instruction in the Integrated Curricular Sciences course. Participate in outcomes assessment, including student and peer evaluation, to improve curricular content and presentation.

II. Collaboration and Service
  • Engage broadly in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities.
  • In addition to the traditional expectations for faculty members, the culture of humanism and collaboration is especially important.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
  • Restorative and preventive information and techniques
  • Dental materials and emerging digital applications to clinical restorative treatment


Education:
  • DDS/DMD or international equivalent from an accredited dental school program

Licenses/Certifications
  • Active license to practice dentistry
  • Valid CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse population of patients. students, staff, faculty and administration.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a group setting.
  • Reflect, self-assess, and think critically.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.


Experience:
  • Previous teaching or practice experience is preferred
  • Minimum of one year practice experience preferred

Other:
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

  • Faculty should have sufficient motor function to execute movements essential to teaching and demonstration.
  • Must be able to operate controls, use high-speed or low-speed dental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use hand instrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures.
