Bachelor’s degree in relevant area and two years of appropriate experience. Relevant experience may substitute for required education.

Experience with federal funding submission processes (Research.gov, Grants.gov or a system-to-system interface).
Experience in developing grant budgets, processing documentation within designated timeframes to meet deadlines.
Excellent conceptual, writing, editing, oral, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with teams (i.e. faculty, staff, administrators, funding agency representatives, community partner representatives, and grant writings from other institutions) on collaborative projects.
Experience with Memphis area community-based organizations.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
May need to work/travel beyond normal work schedule.

Job Duties


Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates grant submission among community-engaged researchers and their academic and/or community collaborators, compiling resources for submission, and setting and project managing submissions/managing deadlines. Edits grant applications and prepares documents for submission to sponsors. Performs compliance checks on grant applications and makes recommendations for edits. Uploads applications into sponsor portals as appropriate.
Duties & Responsibilities
Works with faculty to create draft budgets for grant applications and revises as needed. Creates draft budget justifications/narratives; Transfers internal budgets to sponsor budget formats. Provides guidance regarding indirect cost rate in consultation with the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR).

Identifies potential collaborators within and outside of the University; attends University events that allow for collaborative relationship building such as Engaged Scholar Network, colloquia, research talks, etc. Network with other University staff such as pre-award coordinators, research development staff and others to build relationships that can facilitate knowledge of faculty throughout campus

Works with faculty to increase submission activity, including tailoring research interests to solicitation requests and providing one-to-one and group-based professional development to faculty as needed. Conducts research on funding agencies, including federal, state, and foundations and creates internal grant memorandums; monitors OMB Circulars and other federal compliance guides (including attending seminars and conferences).

Collaborates with faculty to ensure that subcontractors and community partners understand grant requirements, timelines and documents/forms. Serves as liaison with other institutions’ OSP and/or pre-award staff as appropriate during the planning process.

Serves as a liaison to administrators and staff in the Division of Research and Innovation. Works with Principal Investigators and staff to ensure that the University grant management and submission system is well-utilized and is kept up to date. Provides regular reports on submission and award activity upon request.
