Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director, the Practice Supervisor will work independently and have primary responsibility for the supervision of practice coordinators at the Berkeley Outpatient Practices and Infusion Center. 

The Practice Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the operational, human resource, administrative and business functions of the practice coordinators and front desk   The Practice Supervisor must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients and providers.  A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff and patients in a complex environment.  In addition to providing the day-to-day supervision of the Front Desk staff and administrative scheduling team, the supervisor also processes all payroll for the various sites, performance evaluations, revenue cycle management, managing the Cadence schedules, and helping to supervise and cover other areas of the practice when the Administrative Director is out. Practice Supervisor also ensures all direct reports complete all required competencies and training within required time frames.  Leads employee engagement efforts with team in alignment with organization goals and LEAN principles.  This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as needed.   

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $131,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. Required Qualifications

  • BachelorΓÇÖs degree in related area and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
  • 3-5 years overall experience in related field with 1-2 years of supervisory responsibilities
  • Demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinic / center administration.
  • Strong knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirement and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center operations.
