Job Summary

The Practice Manager will be responsible for clinical, operational, fiscal, human resource and quality outcomes for the Pediatric Brain Center and have primary responsibility for the supervision of administrative staff. The Practice Manager must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients and providers. Working closely with the Medical Director, Administrative Director, and Nurse Manager of the Pediatric Brain Center, the Practice Manager will develop standards of care to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of care and spearhead innovative projects for program improvements. 

The Practice Manager works with staff on a clearly defined and communicated vision and engages individuals and groups to achieve that vision. The Practice Manager identifies and develops organizational talent and embraces continuous learning of self and others.

The Practice Manager collaborates with the Medical Director, Administrative Director, Nurse Manager and Clinic Supervisor to advance quality strategies, ensure a positive professional work environment, facilitate timeliness of services, and enhance patient, provider and staff satisfaction. The Practice Manager oversees all aspects of the provision of administrative services including the maintenance of safety and technical/clinical performance, quality, standards of care, practice guidelines, service delivery and patient and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for financial accountability and working collaboratively with the Director and Finance Manager to monitor the operating budget.

Department Description

Specialists in the Pediatric Brain Center are leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of pediatric disorders from cerebrovascular disease to headache to nerve injuries. Patients may undergo a comprehensive evaluation in the General Child Neurology Clinic before referred to a neurological expert who specializes in a specific condition.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare management experience that includes supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s). Strong knowledge of practice operations.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center patient care.
  • Demonstrated management or leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ambulatory practices
  • Previous experience in medical office registration, scheduling, and/or billing.
  • Previous EPIC experience
