Job Summary

Manages the operations of healthcare clinic(s) or center (s) to include fiscal, human resources and practice management operations for Neurosurgery, including start up and management of new sites. Responsibilities include Parnassus Neurosurgery Outpatient, and cross-coverage of other clinics as needed. This position requires traveling between all sites and UCSF campus locations.

Department Description

The Department of Neurosurgery generates approximately $100 million in professional charges per year. The Practice Manager is responsible for oversite of satellite clinics which includes tracking surgeries and inpatient visits for surgeons assigned to this location and submitting the off-license billing to MGBS. The Practice manager is responsible for operations at these locations and works closely with other physicians and departments whose clinics are scheduled at our Parnassus campus.


Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate and delegate work functions efficiently
  • Ability to travel between all satellite locations and UCSF campuses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to five years related healthcare management experience
  • Clinic / center management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology
  • Experience with supervising/managing a minimum of 10 FTEs
  • Demonstrated managerial skills and human resources management knowledge, including staff deployment, resource utilization, budgeting and financial management, quality improvement, and program planning and implementation
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to convey complex information, instructions, and guidelines in a clear, concise, and specific manner, and to influence and persuade all levels of staff
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and patient care workflows and processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments
  • Bachelor's and/or an equivalent of 3-5 years combination of experience/training or Master’s degree in related area and an equivalent combination of 2 years experience / training
