Our goal is to improve the health status and wellness of our community. Cedars-Sinai is one of the leading institutes for competitive research funding from the National Institutes of Health. As an international leader in biomedical research, we translate discoveries into successful treatments with global impact.

Principal Investigator, Pramod Butte, PhD, is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team!

The primary focus of the Butte Laboratory is translational research in the field of biophotonics. The Butte Lab is developing novel intraoperative imaging/visualization technologies to aid surgeons in achieving near-complete tumor excision. The Lab is working on two technologies to accomplish this goal: first, exploring the technique of time-resolved laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy (TR-LIFS) for delineation of primary brain tumors in near real-time and, second, developing a novel near-infrared (NIR) imaging system for visualizing tumors tagged with a unique marker, which is used to make them glow during surgery.

For additional information, please visit the Butte Research Lab .

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, you will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. In this position, you will not be responsible for generating grant funds.

Department-Specific Information:

Working in an engineering capacity as a Postdoctoral Scientist Fellow, you will be involved in the design, development and implementation of cutting-edge medical imaging systems. This position will provide a unique opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team involving optical engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, biomedical engineers as well as surgeons, pathologists, and other medical personnel. As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be involved in the development and possible commercialization of medical device technology. Interest in experiencing a start-up environment with an entrepreneurial spirit is desired. The position will provide experience as a part of a highly focused team on a broad array of technologies. In addition, the position will also offer experience with other technicians, with clinical trials, collecting clinical data, and following clinical protocols.
