Position Description:

The Healthier Workforce Center of the Midwest (HWC) at the University of Iowa College of Public Health seeks applicants for a postdoctoral research scholar. As a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Total Worker Health® Center of Excellence, the HWC serves as a leader in research, translation, and dissemination of programs, policies and practices addressing worker health, safety, and well-being. The candidate will be part of a collaborative team of researchers from public health, communication, management and organizational behavior, occupational health, and community partners working with employers.


This position provides opportunities for in-depth quantitative and qualitative research and the translation and dissemination of evidence-based findings that impact worker well-being (e.g., recovery friendly workplaces, mental health, vulnerable populations). Specifically, the candidate will assist with data analysis and manuscript preparation, including data from a longitudinal study examining workplace policies, health behaviors, and outcomes during the COVID pandemic. They will have the opportunity to work with colleagues to implement and evaluate a workplace intervention addressing mental health in the construction industry, participate in research and outreach focused on young workers, construction workers, and the agricultural community, develop a grant proposal to explore the impact of organizational factors on worker well-being, and support day to day project coordination, including supervising graduate students.


This is an in-person position based in Iowa City, IA. The candidate will be mentored by Diane Rohlman, PhD . The start date is as soon as possible and the expected duration of the appointment is two years. Education Requirement:

PhD in Public Health or Related Field.

Required Qualifications:

Proficient in SAS or other analytical software package for data management


Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data


Demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts, reports, and other documents of a technical and scientific nature.’


Good verbal and written communication skills.


Eligible to work in the United States.

Desirable Qualifications:

Ability to analyze qualitative data using Dedoose (or another qualitative software) is desirable.


Supervisory experience is desirable.


Experience with grant writing is desirable.
