POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR

The Weiss and Ellermeier Laboratories at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine are seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar to join us in the investigation of cell envelope biogenesis in Clostridioides difficile. NIH-funded projects include 1) Peptidoglycan remodeling during growth and cell division; 2) Functional characterization of essential genes using CRISPR interference; and 3) Cell envelope stress response systems.

A minimum commitment of 2 years is required with further renewal dependent on performance. Compensation will be determined based on experience and current NIH guidelines.

Candidates must have PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree.

Experience studying molecular biology of bacteria is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong publication record, good communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
