POSITION OBJECTIVE

Dr. Feeny, the Director of the PTSD Treatment and Research Program at Case Western Reserve University, is hiring a full-time post-doctoral scholar to work on a National Institute of Mental Health funded study examining PATH (Positive Processes and Transition to Health), a brief treatment that targets key psychological processes common to PTSD and MDD. This position will involve managing day-to-day activities of the grant, serving as a therapist for the intervention, overseeing data management, and supervising independent evaluators and research assistants.

Opportunities for involvement in publications, presentations at national conference, and grants are plentiful. This position is renewable for up to four years, with preference given to those who can commit to at least two years. More information about the lab can be found here:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a therapist for study. (30%)
  • Oversee data management. (30%)
  • Supervise independent evaluators and main study research assistant. (15%)
  • Manage undergraduate research assistant team. (15%)
  • Participate in cross-site conference calls. (10%)
  • NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with manuscript preparation and conference presentations.
  • Attend weekly research meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • CONTACTS

    Department: Continuous contact with research staff to maintain workflow.

    University: Infrequent contact with university staff.

    External: Frequent contact with participants as a therapist for the study. Contact with research team at the University of Washington and the University of Delaware.

    Students: Regular contact with graduate students who help with data collection and management.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    This position has no direct supervision of staff employees.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education/Experience: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Prior training or experience in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders is required.

    REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Professional and effective verbal and communication skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work and communicate with various individuals, including patients for study.
  • Previous experience in evidence based psychotherapy.
  • Writing and data analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the principle investigator, graduate and undergraduate students, and other research team members. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisor, and patients face-to-face.
  • Must be able and willing to learn new techniques, procedures, and processes as part of clinical research.
