JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) at The Pennsylvania State University anticipates an opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar in population health and fertility, starting on or about  March 2024. The Postdoctoral Scholar will devote time to independent research and collaborations with faculty mentors. The appointment is for two years, contingent on funding support.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a social science field such as sociology, demography, family studies, anthropology, economics, or political science by the starting date, and have training and research experience in demographic processes (fertility, mortality, migration, and family formation) especially as they are of relevance to population health. We seek applicants with experience working with and linking birth, marriage, death records, and an interest in advancing longitudinal and comparative understandings of fertility, family formation, and population health. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate interest and capacity for independent research, have outstanding writing and communication skills, and be able to work effectively on a team.

Salary and benefits are competitive. Screening of applications will begin in February 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
