The Pennsylvania State University`s Department of Recreation Park and Tourism Management (RPTM) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar appointment. This is an opportunity for an emerging scholar to engage with a highly experienced team of investigators led by Dr. Andrew J. Mowen. The postdoc will help in examining various topics related to civic engagement, social integration, and public-private partnerships within community park and recreation contexts. The postdoc will work to facilitate and oversee community-engaged research related to park and recreation capital renovation projects as well as studies to better understand public-private partnerships between park agencies and non-profit organizations. Responsibilities will include operationalizing various project procedures; hiring, training, and managing field personnel; developing sampling designs and instrumentation for the user and stakeholder surveys; assisting in the design, data analysis, and preparation of project reports; analyzing and interpreting study findings and preparing reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication; designing and implementing project outreach efforts for communication and developing managerial recommendations based on project findings. The postdoc will have extensive opportunities to publish and access exceptional resources to facilitate his or her independent research, and will have options for teaching courses within the Department if desired. We seek individuals with an earned doctorate in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management who have demonstrated research excellence and scholarly productivity. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and experience in relevant research domains, strong statistical skills, strong qualitative data collection/analysis skills, and ambulatory data capture.
