Position Description

The University of Washington Information School invites applications for a 1 to 2-year appointment as a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on a project titled Pacific Northwest Ecosystems. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2024.


This Postdoctoral Scholar will work with Professor Amy Ko, primary responsibilities include:


  • Research design, community organizing, data collection using mixed methods, project management, extensive research writing and communication
  • Building and studying equitable pathways into secondary CS education and retaining them through community support
  • Reporting policy implications to community and policy leaders in Oregon and national policy communities

  • The position is hosted by the University of Washington, a world-class research university in the Pacific Northwest. The iSchool is located in Seattle, Washington, on the homelands of the Coast Salish peoples whose land touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot nations. The successful candidate will join a broad-based, inclusive Information School, whose faculty members pursue their research, teaching, and service across multiple degree programs and are committed to leadership, innovation, social justice and upholding tribal sovereignty.

    Salary range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum annual salary rates are based on the individual's Experience Level, which is determined by the number of months of postdoctoral service at any institution.     The base salary for this Postdoctoral Scholar position will be $5,705 - $5,833 per month ($68,460 - $70,000 per 12-month academic year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

    Minimal Qualifications


    • Expertise in secondary computer science teaching and pathways in Oregon
    • Expertise in equity in education
    • Applicants must have a PhD, JD, EdD, or foreign equivalent by date of appointment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
