Job Description
The Learning Analytics and Measurement in Behavioral Sciences (LAMBS) Lab and Notre Dame Learning at University of Notre Dame invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on satisfactory performance. This position is jointly funded by the LAMBS Lab in the Psychology Department and Notre Dame Learning at the University of Notre Dame with primary affiliation with the former (under the supervision of Dr. Ying (“Alison”) Cheng and secondary affiliation with the latter. 
● The successful candidate would join a team of researchers who are very experienced in adaptive testing and recommendation systems, educational data mining, learning analytics, assessment and evaluation, and learning/instructional design. 
● The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in connecting data mining methods and learning science/educational psychology theory and practices to help improve learning at ND (esp. inclusive pedagogies) and beyond. 
The start date of the position is flexible, but we desire an individual to begin work no later than April 1, 2024. 
Duties 
  • Working on a project involving adaptive testing and adaptive learning; 
  • Working on projects involving analysis of existing corpus of data involving student engagement and learning using educational data mining and visualization methods; 
  • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; 
  • Overseeing design and implementation of educational intervention, and data collection and analysis; 
  • Contributing to report writing, manuscript preparation, and other dissemination efforts. 
  • Contributing to grant writing and supporting grant-funded research projects.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a doctoral degree in quantitative methods, learning analytics, educational psychology, learning sciences, or a related field by time of hire and experience conducting educational research in school settings. 
Preferred Qualifications
Background in psychometrics, educational technology, educational data mining. Interest and knowledge in quantitative methods, including machine learning, structural equation modeling, and multi-level modeling. It is not expected that all candidates will have all of these areas of expertise and thus we encourage applicants with at least one or more of these desired qualifications to apply.
