JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Materials Research institute (MRI) is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar who will work on the processing of dielectric and piezoelectric and electrical and microstructural characterization.

The work would be closely linked to the National Science Foundation Industrial Center, the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics (www.cdp.ncsu.edu ).

Responsibilities:

  • Performing world-leading dielectric and piezoelectric materials research in synthesis and characterization aligned to the goals of CDP.
  • Presenting the results at technical conferences and preparinge manuscripts for submission.
  • Assisting with research operations in the facility, including data management, communications with group members and industrial members, preparing reports for research sponsors, and scientific outreach to the broader community.

Education and Experience: This position typically requires a Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field. Candidates should have their Ph.D. before the start date or should have completed all requirements towards their Ph.D before the start date.

Candidates for this position must have a strong record of related research and experience in bulk dielectric and piezoelectric materials. Knowledge of transmission electron microscopy would be an added advantage.

The position requires excellent organizational, time management and communication skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment in support of CDP.
