POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR - DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in research with Dr. Elliott Sohn in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. Our lab has substantial experience in studying diabetic retinal neurodegeneration, immunology, genetics, image processing, and deep learning (AI) of human and animal OCTs.  The successful candidate will perform translational studies using image analysis of diabetic human and animal OCTs, perform analysis of clinical data from human patients with diabetes and other neurodegenerative disorders, and coordinate banking of blood of patients with diabetes. 

Requires the practical or academic knowledge of clinical ophthalmology, AI, image analysis, and statistics plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply this knowledge that is generally associated with a PhD or MD, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.

Experience in ophthalmology and research.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Research article authorship history in peer reviewed journals commensurate with years of experience. Must be proficient with computer software including MicroSoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Excel database software. 

Experience with AI-based studies.
