JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State’s Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI, https://eesi.psu.ed u ) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position.

We seek Ph.D. scientists with any or all of the following expertise:

• Clay Mineralogy and Geochemistry

• Geospatial Analysis

• Chemostratigraphy and Sequence Stratigraphy

• Economic Geology and Mineral Assessment

The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with researchers on affiliated projects. The position provides unique opportunities for research, education, outreach, decision support, cross-disciplinary mentoring, and professional development.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in a relevant field prior to the starting date of their appointment. Competitive candidates will have strong computational and quantitative skills, familiarity with climate datasets, and a clear orientation toward transdisciplinary collaboration.

Review of applications will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled. The initial appointment will be for a period of 12 months with an excellent possibility of renewal contingent upon the availability of funding and successful evaluation of performance.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
